    What is chiffon fabric?

When we look at chiffon fabrics, we discover a thin fabric made of silk or synthetic yarns with a plain weave. The fabric is characterized by its transparency. One thing is certain: if you choose chiffon, you choose a special fabric with a rich tradition. A great deal is possible with this fabric; for instance, it is very common nowadays for chiffon fabric to be printed.

    Chiffon fabric properties

Chiffon fabric originated in France, which can already be deduced from its name. The fabric subsequently reached Europe via China. Initially, chiffon fabric was made exclusively of silk. Today, chiffon also incorporates various types of cotton, viscose, and polyester.

    Printing chiffon fabric

If you choose chiffon, you always choose a very supple and transparent fabric. The fabric is exceptionally thin, fine-threaded, and can be described as a voile-like fabric. To most people, chiffon fabric is known as an affordable alternative to silk. It is not without reason that it is sometimes called artificial silk. You can get the fabric in various colors, and you can also have the fabric printed. Additionally, you can work with woven-in motifs when you choose chiffon fabrics. The fabric offers an immense number of possibilities, allowing you to easily keep up with the latest trends.

Widely used for dresses, skirts, scarves, lingerie, and decoration

If we look at the literal translation of chiffon, it stands for rag or cloth. However, this does the fabric quite a disservice. There is absolutely no question of rags here. Quite the contrary. If you examine the fabric a bit closer, it is a very durable and highly user-friendly material. Nowadays, the fabric makes much more use of synthetic fibers than was previously the case. For instance, you can perfectly use the fabric as an overlay to give a luxurious appearance to a dress, blouse, or skirt. The fabric is also increasingly used today for manufacturing scarves and for the production of lingerie and decoration.

Reasons enough to choose this special fabric

And so, chiffon fabric turns out to be a much more versatile fabric than many people initially think. It is an airy fabric that wears wonderfully and can be used to realize the trendiest garments. Compared to silk, it is much cheaper to purchase, and if you choose the fabric with added polyester, you will never have to deal with those well-known dark sweat stains under the armpits, for example. Reason enough to also choose this more than special fabric.

In our assortment, you will find various chiffon fabrics. We offer these fabrics at very competitive prices as well.
